The User Reporting page in emailHygiene gives administrators quick access to reporting tools and insights into credit usage across users and events. Here’s how to find your way around the first part of the page.
Step 1: Locate the Reporting Section in the Sidebar
On the left-hand navigation panel, look for the “Reporting” menu item. It’s listed alongside other admin tools like “Manage Users” and “Credits.” Click on “Reporting” to open the User Reporting dashboard.
Choose Your Report Type
New Report Button: Just below the page title on the right, you’ll find the “New Report” button. Clicking this will launch the report creation workflow.
💡 Tip: If you’re looking to build a threat report instead, click here to learn more.
You’ll see two main options for report creation:
- Category Report – Useful for analyzing types of threats across multiple lists.
- Event Log Report – Great for digging into file-level activity like uploads and downloads.
Creating a Category Report
A Category Report provides a high-level view of how your email data is being used across the emailHygiene platform. Here’s what you’ll typically find in the exported CSV:
- File Name: The original name of the uploaded file.
- User: The team member who initiated the upload or scan.
- Scan Profile: The filter set used during processing.
- Access Type: How the file was uploaded (WEB, FTP, or API).
- Credit Usage: Total credits consumed by each file.
- Processing Date: When the file was analyzed.
- Result Summary: An overview of the threat types detected (if applicable), matched to your scan profile.
This report makes it easy to track usage patterns and credit allocation across your team, while surfacing which profiles and upload methods are used most frequently.
Once you select the Category radio button, a form appears to customize your report. Here’s what each field means and how to fill it out:
1. Period, Start Date, and End Date
Use the Period dropdown to select a pre-defined range like "Prior 12 Months," or enter a custom Start Date and End Date. This tells the platform what date range you want your report to cover.
2. User(s)
Choose one or more users whose uploads or activity you want to include in the report. Each selected user will be listed by name and email.
3. Access Type(s)
Select how the records were uploaded:
| Access Type | Description |
| WEB | Uploaded via the emailHygiene interface manually |
| FTP | Uploaded via File Transfer Protocol for automated workflows |
| API | Uploaded using a programmatic API integration |
Most users select all three unless they know a specific method was used.
4. Profile(s)
Pick the scan profile used during processing. Most accounts will only have one profile available, but if your organization uses multiple, make sure you select the correct one for the dataset you're analyzing.
5. Credit Type(s)
Choose the type of credits used. In most cases, this will be HV BUNDLED, which covers both hygiene and verification in a single scan.
6. File Name
Enter a helpful file name for your report. We recommend using something descriptive like the name of the CRM or ESP campaign it supports. For example: SpringPromo_CRMReport_June2025
When all fields are filled in, click Generate to begin building your report.
💡 Tip: If you’re not sure which access type or profile to select, check with your admin or use the same settings as your last successful report.
Creating an Event Log Report
Event Log Reports provide a timestamped view of platform activity by user, action, and source. These reports are valuable for auditing, security monitoring, or verifying key workflows. Here’s what you can expect to see in the exported CSV:
- Timestamp: The exact date and time the event occurred
- User Email: The person who performed the action
- Action: What was done (e.g., Upload, Edit, Download)
- Source: Where the action occurred (API, FTP, or WEB)
- Event Description: Additional metadata about the event, such as file names, credit amounts, or changes made
These logs are limited to a 1-month window but provide a detailed lens into how the platform is being used—ideal for compliance and operations reviews.
💡 Tip: You can combine multiple actions and sources in a single report to get a comprehensive view of all activity for a selected user or group.
Event Log Reports work similarly to Category Reports, but focus on user activity. Once you select the Event Log radio button, a new version of the report form will appear. Here's how to fill it out:
1. Period, Start Date, and End Date
You can select from pre-set ranges (e.g., "Prior Month") or define custom Start Date and End Date—but note that Event Logs are limited to a one-month reporting window.
2. User(s)
Pick the user(s) whose activity you want to track. These are the individuals whose actions will appear in the final report.
3. Source(s)
Select how the actions were performed:
| Source | Description |
| WEB | Performed in the emailHygiene interface |
| FTP | Initiated through automated file uploads |
| API | Completed via the API integration |
4. Action(s)
| Action Type | Description |
| Authentication | Login or session activity |
| Billing | Credit deductions and usage activity |
| Billing Replenish | Credits added or repurchased |
| Download | When a result or insert file is downloaded |
| Edit | Any edit to settings or profiles |
| Express Task | Real-time task executed via API or UI |
| Upload | New file uploads, regardless of access method |
You can select all or narrow your scope to only a few.
5. File Name
Name the file to reflect the report’s purpose or time period—for example: May_AdminActions_Log
Click Generate to build and save your report.
💡 Tip: Event Log Reports are especially helpful for reviewing user behavior, auditing sensitive actions, or validating team activity over short timeframes.
Viewing and Managing Saved Reports
After generating a report, it will appear in the EmailHygiene Usage table on the User Reporting page. Each report is listed with the following columns:
- Report Date: When the report was created
- Report Name: A clickable link to view the report's filter settings
- Report Type: Indicates whether it’s a Category or Event Log report
- Requesting User: The user who created the report
To the right of each row, you’ll see two action buttons:
- Download: Click this to download a CSV version of the report.
- Trash Icon: Click this to delete the report permanently.
💡 Tip: Clicking the report name is a quick way to confirm the criteria used to generate the file—helpful when you're reviewing reports with similar names.
